I agree with you completely and would love to see increase prize money in our sport, but sadly in the US I don't know if it will be possible without increased TV coverage. I lived in Germany for a few years and part of the attraction to sponsors is the constant TV exposure. As I'm sure you know, equestrians in Europe are recognized as athletes and attract their own followings just like basketball stars do here.

In this economy, shows are fighting for entries even at the highest levels. For example, the recent Midwinter Dressage show in Burbank is usually a 6-ring show, but this year it only ran 3 rings, and one of those was only running for part of the day. Maybe this is the perfect time to combine some of the shows and pool their resources.

I could not agree with you more Mr. Dover. Also I think sponsors would be more forthcoming if perhaps a rider would have a chance to bring back some of the money being payed out.I know my husband would sponsor me more if he new he would recieve a return on his investment. And sponsors would realize it would be smart to give more in sponsorships because the amount of people it would bring into the fold.Hopefully someone will step up to the plate and try what you suggest.
Thank you for doing this site.I expecially enjoyed the video of you riding that freestyle with the music "One Moment in Time". Was that a horse you trained and owned? What a lovely freestyle and beautiful horse.Hard to believe that horse was only a GP horse for one year!Bravo on your new endeavor,I wish you great success and I will pray for you to heal quickly.
