Lexington CDI Freestyle
Close to 2000 people were on habd to cheer for the riders and horses who competed in the Freestyle under the lights last night at the Lexington CDI. I have to say that I loved hearing the clapping of so many people for Dressage!
Tina Konyot did not disappoint once again with a very fun ride set to music with just the right amount of lyrics to put a smile on peoples’ faces. Collecto was lovely to watch and keeps looking more reliable with each test.
Canadian riders all made me proud again of their ongoing progress. Diane Creech and Devon L are now becoming more reliable in the arena and will definitely become a great pair over time. Jaimey Irwin is a super rider on the horse I have a hard time calling by his name, "Dover", and is also showing more reliability and fluidity in the arena. Jacquie Brooks is always a crowd pleaser and with her very fun music for Balmoral, always gets people going. She placed a very commendable 3rd right behind Chris Van Martels riding the lovely mare, Naomi, also for Canada. Chris just acquired Naomi 8 weeks ago and has partnered up with her beautifully for such a short time. The judges were thrilled by this pair and commented that, with a bit more time, they can easily imagine they will exceed 70% in Grand Prix. I am 100% certain they are right!
All in all it was a super competition with magnificent grounds and facilities, exciting rides and for Canadians, another big step forward in the hunt for a medal at the World Equestrian Games in September.
Cheers!
