Live TV For Vegas! Hooray!!!
Just back from the 1st leg of my once a month trips on my “Cher” Farewell Tour, I am delighted to say that the Californians still “got it goin on!” I saw some excellent riders on truly knock-out horses, and I’ll fill you in further about them in my next post.
I also am really psyched to report that the World Cup WILL be televised live on NBC Universal, an affiliate of NBC. The main events in Show Jumping as well as Dressage will be aired and I will be on hand doing the play-by-play commentary, so you can be assured of a no-holes-barred program. The World Cup is always an amazingly exciting competition, but in “Sin City” it takes on a whole new dimension. The glitz and glamour of show business brings the entire event to a level you just can’t find anywhere else on earth.
So if you’ve been on the fence about going, climb off and meet me in Vegas! Oh, and by the way, if you do intend to go, don’t forget to set your Tivo’s and DVR’s to tape the shows. We need to tell the networks that we horse lovers will support all equestrian related programming if we are to gain a “soft spot in their hearts”.
Hope to see you in Vegas!
Cheers!

Robert,
I called my local cable company, there is no such channel called “NBC Universal”. It is the name of a production company, just like “20th century Fox”.
Can you find out what channel is brodcasting the World Cup with you as commentater? Can you post the show-schedule on your website also? I live on West Coast.
Thanks.

Well, folks, here’s the skinny on the TV situation for the Dressage World Cup.
After months of trying to secure sponsorship for them, as well as making my schedule free to go out and do the commentary, it has not worked out for me to take part this time around.
The budget is so tight that the amount I was offered for working from Wed-Sun was less than I receive for two lessons, and I just can’t afford to do it for that. I truly wish I could!
Even worse is that, though I told the producers I would be happy to ask Guenter to do it since he will already be out there anyway, they responded with a message saying they were “dumping” the Thursday Grand Prix entirely and would figure out something without my help for Saturday.
Needless to say, I am disappointed! It’s sad for the sport.

I am sorry to hear that. It will be disappointing to thousands of dressage fans. If the producers are sincere, wonder if you can get the right to make a DVD video from this so that you’ll get loyalty from the sale later to compensate for the low pay. The job requires one to speak with fluidity and humor, and good connection with the competitors. You are the perfect person for the job.
