FEI SEEKS SUSPENSIONS IN GERMAN OLYMPIC TEAM INVESTIGATION Further to a request made by a majority of the FEI Bureau members, the FEI Headquarters today filed a protest with the FEI Tribunal on the basis of widely reported admissions by Marco Kutscher and Björn Nolting concerning the undeclared treatment given to Marco Kutscher’s horse, Cornet Obolensky, at the 2008 Olympic Games, and the circumstances surrounding this treatment including the collapse of the horse which subsequently took part in competition. The protest requests the provisional suspension of these individuals from any FEI activities pending the results of the investigation being carried out by the Ethics Panel chaired by Lord Stevens. It also requests the provisional suspension of Hanfried Haring, FEI Bureau Member, judge and former Secretary General of the German NF, of his responsibilities on the FEI governing body, on the basis that he had knowledge of the relevant facts and did not report them to the relevant authorities.

Even crazier news
Today,May 28, Thursday, the German Federation (FN) has DISSOLVED all three national teams– jumping, dressage and eventing.
Riders have to agree to meet with a special commission and give their philosophy on drugging/medication, have their attitude observed, and agree to the latest veterinary regimen in order to be considered for ANY team.
Each rider must keep an absolute and total log of any and all medications given to any of their horses. Starting two months before any Nation’s Cup or national team competition, the ONLY vet who can dispense or sign off on any substances is the new German team vet (who has replaced Nolting who has resigned in disgrace).
So–Robert–forget the fact that Meredith has dual citizenship! This is our golden opportunity! Is there a way to do a fast genealogy study to see if either Isabell Werth or Ingrid Klimke has a long lost American relative…?

You know what? Let’s just beat them fair and square in the arena someday on the merit of our riding and our horses, just like Steffen did in Vegas.

I agree Robert! I just recieved my USDF Connection with Steffen and Ravel on the cover and I’m so proud that he won with a great horse and great training and riding. It makes the win so much better.
But about your blog. How crazy?! It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out!

Welll… (picture Jack Benny holding his head in his hand which obviously dates me to prehistoric times)not to make too big a fuss of all this, but Steffen is German born ,trained by Hinnemann and Balkenhol and Ravel was basically trained by Dutch team member Edward Gal.
But I too cannot wait for the day when the U.S. can take on the rest of the world in dressage–and I think that day is closer than ever.

And I want to add that I think Steffen is a great rider and Ravel is a great horse and how wonderful it has been to watch them over the past few years. It is still amazing to recognize that their journey in the show arena really only started some 15 months ago.
I truly think they will continue to make history!
Here’s hoping we have some more stars like this coming up.
