As Dover’s World Turns - The Continuing Zada Saga

I  received word that the latest article has come out interviewing Ron Davis, friend and documentary movie producer, by well known, award winning  journalist, Diana Derosa.  It deals with Ron’s latest movie about his “Joe Zada story”, which is very similar to ours and is wonderfully titled, “Riches To Rags”.   Below you will find a link to the article with a message from Diana.   It’s the stuff of a good novel but, sadly for too many of us, TRUE!     Wishing you all enjoyable reading, and please tell your friends!

Cheers!

What’s amazing to me is that the criminal justice system apparently has no desire to impose any kind of penalty on Zada. You’ve won a judgement against him which he’s refusing to honor. Is that legal? What will it take to put him in jail for a bit and convince him people are serious. Are there grounds for a criminal fraud trial?

  2. Beth Collier — June 4, 2009 @ 10:45 am

Palm Beach County public records lists a 4 million judgement. I thought that was a whopper, then DoversWorld stated 8 million is owed. Ouch!!!!!

How is it that in our country the criminals are given every benefit of the doubt and we that follow the law and expect it to protect us are run over by the proverbial bus?

This is not the stuff of novels ,it is an everyday endeavor orchestrated by many and devastating the lives of those who become focused within the sights of the mentioned equestrienne and those like Him many of you know my wonderful fiance and this is what he deals with on a daily basis being a white collar crime and criminal defense attorney ,with a prominent record of success representing the majority of the largest racketeering RICO and fraud cases in the U.S There is a way to convict Yet probably impossible to retrieve assets that are not entailed .BUT that is not always the case Should my friends Robert and Robert ever need anything it is a phone call away when you need friends they will there for you

How is it that a LOAN that has not been repaid suddenly criminal? Hasn’t anyone out there ever come across hard times? Mr. Zada is and has been doing EVERYTHING in his power to resolve this matter. He has NOT run away. He is working all day every day to bring resolution. He has stated many many times that he will repay everyone that has LOANED him money. Have there been more delays that anyone thought possible? Absolutely. Has anyone been hurt MORE by these delays than Mr. Zada? Absolutely not. What he has lost cannot be counted in dollars and cents. Yet he is still standing and fighting and will follow through on his promises. Once the debts have been settled, then you who have cast him in such a horrible light will truly know what you have lost. His friendship. And that is much more valuable than any amount of money.

    Hi “Liza”.

Sorry to have to disagree with you, but I promised my readers that there would be no lies on Dover’s World -at leats that I could help!
Many, many years ago I leant a relative of mine some money, dispite my brother telling me it was a mistake. And guess what?
It was a huge mistake and cost our reltionship for a long time, though I’m very happy to say we are great together again now.

But, because of that situation I determined never to loan money to relatives or friends again -EVER! I might give someone I loved a gift, but no loans.

And, I might add, Joe Zada never, ever asked me for a personal loan in all the years I knew him. Every cent that I gave Joe was to inverst, along with his “overseas oil invertments, proof of which I have in abundance.

I am very much hoping Joe will, as he says he will, meet his obligations very soon. But your portrayal of the circumstances in which my money went into his accounts is exactly as I have said, and
I will not allow you or anyone else to go unchecked if you try to paint the picture otherwise.

A quick apology for my spelling errors on the last post. I am in Fire Island with only my Blackberry and could hardly see what I was writing.
I hate spelling errors but please pardon me for them. I am certain Liza and the rest of you “got my gist”.

  8. The truth — June 5, 2009 @ 7:07 pm

    Robert:

As a fellow victim, I have to agree with you wholeheartedly. I don’t know what kind of a dream world Liza lives in, but here are some facts that may bring her back into this galaxy. Joe is so low he has even screwed the American Cancer Society by sponsering events in Wellington and then not paying his sponsorship commitment (or paying it with checks that bounced). You have to be lower than a snake’s belly to screw people by welching on a donation to help people with cancer. Yes we all made “investments” which I am also sure wound up in Joe’s bank account. Is that not the definition of a Ponzi scheme? After reading Ron Davis’ interview, I am fairly sure that I received a payment from Joe right after he put in his money in 2007. Is that not also the definition of a ponzi scheme Liza? I don’t know who told you to post spin for Joe in this blog, but like Robert, I resent it because you obviously don’t know your **s from a hole in the ground about what has happened.

  9. Beth Collier — June 8, 2009 @ 8:31 am

Per Liza’s comments: Mr. Zada has at least one supporter out there.
I think having their debts settled is all anyone is asking for.
If Robert Dover loaned Joe Zada 8 million dollars, then I definately need to move to Florida and become a dressage trainer because that would mean Robert has a swimming pool full of $$$.

  10. Beth Collier — June 8, 2009 @ 9:22 am

My comments above were meant to be sarcastic.

  11. RDover2 — June 8, 2009 @ 3:59 pm

Thanks, Beth. As I have said, I began investing money with Joe over 10 years ago, always believing it was in oil along with his own. That is until 2 years ago when the story somewhat changed.
Joe still says, as recently as last week on his Zadaresponds.com that he will resolve everything and pay his debtors imminently;however, I have been hearing that for 2 years now as well.
I will keep my readers informed as promised, and truly hope Joe will finally live up to his promises.

    Robert:

I too hope that he lives up to his promises, but unfortunately, we have all learned that Joe’s handshake, his signature, and his word are all worthless.

  13. Honestly — June 9, 2009 @ 2:41 pm

I agree with you Truth. Smoke and mirrors. These broken promises have ruined friendships and families.

    Hi All.

While I truly appreciate everyone’s comments and questions on Dover’s World, I ask everyone again to PLEASE only send in posts with you true, full name attached.
I put my name on the line every day and ask that, positive or negative, I will not accept graffiti on my site.

  15. RR — June 10, 2009 @ 12:22 pm

The people that know me well know that I am a very private person. I have never commented on a blog site and I have tried to avoid being in the press. I find great joy in doing things that help others, but always prefer to work behind the scenes. However, I feel that the current circumstance requires me to speak up. While I find this extremely difficult to do, I do not want an injustice to continue. I want to start by saying Joe Zada was my closest friend in the world. We spoke almost daily (sometimes a few times a day) for over a decade. We had horses together, vacationed together, and he lived in my house for several years. So I hope you can understand why the following is so difficult for me to say.
Joe originally came to me and told me about these investments he had been doing in oil in Saudi Arabia. He said they would buy these huge oil tankers when oil was cheap(er) and then sell at the beginning of summer when oil prices went up and this is how he was making so much money. (I kept the print outs that he gave me showing me the huge gains oil had been making in the previous cycles) Just over two years ago he came to me and told me that they were projecting skyrocketing oil prices over the next few months and that I should go to my family and friends and tell them about this once in a lifetime investment opportunity. As far as I knew Joe had always been up front and honest in the past, so I believed what he was telling me. I did ask my lawyer of many years to check into the whole thing and he told me he met with all parties and this was a legitimate investment deal and that he had invested in this opportunity as well.
So I am the one who originally told Ron Davis and other friends and family about the business opportunity that Joe had presented. (Therefore, I know for a fact, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Ron Davis is telling the truth- and that other friends and family invested as well)
What happened next is exactly what Joe had predicted. Oil prices skyrocketed, except one problem, when we were supposed to get our money back as promised on July 1, 2007 it did not happen. Since then we have been promised money every few weeks or months and either the check did not clear, or we were told not to deposit it, or the wire did not arrive. This has happened dozens of times. Every few weeks or months we would get another excuse for the delay, usually by text message, but to this day we have not been told where our money went or what the problem is. Joe told us he had signed a confidentiality agreement with the Saudi investors and that he could not reveal to us where the money is. I do know that the story has changed more times then I care to remember.
Just recently I started getting lots of phone calls from other people who are in the same situation, and realized the extent of people who “invested” their life savings with Joe. Most people have told me that Joe said if they said anything to anyone they would not see a penny, so most people are afraid to come out in the open about this. But that is starting to change. I know that if I did not speak up now that I have learned what has happened to so many people, and this allowed new innocent people to fall into the same trap then I could not forgive myself. One thing I can say for sure about Ron Davis is that I am proud of him for taking a stand, for trying to find out the truth, and for going public under such difficult circumstances.
Even though I have much guilt over the whole thing, Ron and my other friends and family have never placed blame on me or let it affect our friendships and for this I am truly blessed. As for Joe Zada, I still have a faint hope that circumstances were beyond his control, and that he will still come thru, but this hope is fading fast.

Thanks for sharing a difficult story.

“In proving foresight may be vain:
The best laid schemes of mice and men
    Go often awry,
And leaves us nothing but grief and pain,
For promised joy!” (Robert Burns, 1785)

Dear R & R, I think the man read the “Great Gatsby” onw too many times. Fabulous novel, Not real life. To this day F.S.Fitzgerald spun the best tales of grandeur. I wish you ALL the best on getting your $$$ settled with this enigma. First time I was introduced to him, immediate thump in my gut, a limp handshake (if one could call it that) and his eyes in some muscle queen the entire time. Where or what ever his breeding is, it showed in 30 seconds. None. I learned all that in a private school (no pretense to gentry here, but manners are manners) by the time I was 8 years old. Maybe he was still toiling soil for oil at the age, but I am sorry you all got mixed up with what looks like a ponzi deal. Might not be the only ponzi scheme doing on down there in Wellington.

  18. Mark — August 8, 2009 @ 6:09 pm

    Robert,

Appreciate your situation but if you have documentation that you invested millions with Zada in an oil deal and you have not received your money back, isn’t it time you turned your documentation over to the proper authorities? With judgments being obtained against Zada, including your own, you better hurry up before everything is gone if it isn’t gone already. If Zada converted your investment money to his personal use, he is guilty of fraud and should be prosecuted.
You state that you hope he comes through but shouldn’t it be obvious that something might be criminally wrong?

  19. RDover2 — August 8, 2009 @ 6:31 pm

    Hi Mark.

You are pretty much right on with your comments, but let me assure you of two things. First, the wheels of justice are turning and, as I promised in my last post, the authorities are on the case from coast to coast.
Secondly, many of the people Zada is indebted to are firefighters and police officers, most certainly not upper income folk. They have, in some cases, suffered in relatively far greater ways than Serge Federov or Robert and myself.
Oh, and by the way, I found out that Dr. Mike Donaldson was promised payment of the Monday following an agreement which included his 180 degree about face of his post which appeared briefly on my site.
As I said, I attempted to contact Mike right after he posted his statement but never heard back from him. Naturally, Monday came and went without Mike receiving his money, so I wonder how he’s feeling now.
Actually, I don’t have to wonder - I know exactly how he feels!

    Cheers!

    Hi Mark.

I hope you read my reply to your comment on Dover’s World and also thought I’d mention that, since you’re in the neighborhood, you might want to attend the auction of watches and jewelry taken by Peoples State Bank which Joe had used as collateral for loans. The auction is August 16th, 2009, at 12:00 p.m. At 409 East Jefferson Ave. Detroit, MI
    (313) 963-6255

Some of it is a bit over the top, but you might be able to get some sweet deals on some Rolex watches.

    Cheers!

    RD
