Well, now I can add buying a latte for the lady behind me in the line at Starbucks to my “paying it forward”.
Or does this actually count as “paying it backward?”

I agree you’re supposed to “pay it forward” It would be nice if this happened a few more times to random people. Maybe it would spread. In these hard times we need something to make us feel special

I think it was just a random act of kindness! That’s the latest best thing! When I was in NJ at the Nationals, I went to a covenience store to get batteries for my camera. The clerk said they didn’t have any, so I walked out. Then I decided to go back in and get a water, WELL a customer asked what type battery I needed and said his wife always has extra batteries and to come out to their car. They gave me my two AAs and refused to take any $$ or even a coffee and told me to pay it forward! I will asap! Your turn, Robert
