Mom’s Corner - Coupons

Are coupons worth the trouble to save?
Here is the thing. I never saved coupons. I always gave them to the ladies that clean. Now that I have had check book shock from doing and re-doing things since we are back home I have come to realize it is worth the trouble to cut them out and use them while shopping. Like the old adage says, better in my pocket then theirs. I even made a folder to keep them in. I put it in my desk under F but quickly realized it should be under S for shopping. of course. That was a close one. I never would have found them.
Anyway I went grocery shopping yesterday. I had put the ones I wanted to use right next to the shopping list which I quickly picked up as I was in a hurry to miss the daily rain here in Florida. When I was ready to pay I realized, much to my dismay, that I had left them at home. Oh sugar! That is not what I really said  but you get the idea.  The nice Checkout lady said “It happens to all of us bring them next time”.
Sure there is always a next time. Maybe then I will have them in my purse and still forget to give them to her. The lady in front of me said that is what happens to her.
So again I ask is it worth all the self incrimination to cut coupons?
Help,
Roberts Mom

Oh My goodness! I just saw the offer for 1,000 free coupons. If I bought one of everything I would be broke for sure. You can’t win for trying.
    Save me please!

    Dearest Jessica,
    Thanks for you newsy E-mail.
Everyone I know that has had a sinus infection tells me how debilitating it can be. I have a friend who has chronic infections. I wash my nose out twice a day with IYR. It is not so salty and irritating as other saline solutions, but hard to find. I hope your Mom is feeling better and stronger as the days go by. Chemotherapy is no fun but let’s pray hers works this time. It MUST.
I read about the Cavelia. The article was about the people who ride and how beautiful their costumes and horses are. You should love seeing it. Let me know if you do how it was.
There are still a lot of little thing to buy in our house to replace those ruined by water and dust. My decorative indoor plant holders were set outside and are ruined. Replacing them is not easy because many stores for that kind of thing have gone out of budiness leaving only Home Depot. They have a meager selection to choose from. I brought home a fake tree for the Family room. Poor Herb carried it to and from the car. Little does he suspect it has to go back as it is just too big there.
As for our health it is one Doctor after another for the two of us. We are doing well I pray. Next week I too see my Doctor to set up a scan. I dread it but here I am almost 7 years after being given 3 to 6 months. Someone up ther must be looking out for me.
Thanks again for writing. I hope this note is easy to find. I couldn’t find a place to to leave a comment on the other blog site.
    Lovingly,
    Roberts Mom

    Auntie,

    Auntie,

Thanks for the heads up on your blog! You are the best! Didn’t tell you today when we spoke, now I share in a tarped roof. Hmmm, “tarp”ed, is that an inside or outside Washington thing? Hoping the monsoon will miss my condo this season - so far so good, until my repairs are made. Imagine the insurance denied my claim because the wind did NOT cause the damage. Now have to go through the HOA, that should be an experiance that no one should have to deal with!

I will continue to check your blog, imagine my Auntie with a blog, with anticipation knowing you will yet again put a smile on my face with your wonderful sense of humor and your amazing outlook on life! You never cease to amaze me.

With much love to you, Uncle Herbie and my dear cousin Robert!

Judy, the Niece in toasty Phoenix, AZ

    Dearest Judy,
It’s the truth! Who would ever have thought at 81 I would have a Blog of my own? I had always pictured little old ladies in their rocking chairs. These days, thanks to modern medicine, things have changed for the better….I hope!
Talk about being clever and funny. You, my Dearest Niece take the cake. I have always admired how smart, bright and entertaining you are.
I didn’t know you had tarp problems. Do you suspect they run in the family? Now that our roof is patched I will let you know if I wish I had my blue tarp back! It is hard to believe how creative insurance companies can be to avoid paying. They sure know how to collect don’t they.
Did you read about the three scams we endured. No harm done thank goodness. Tell me what you had to click to find them. It is a mystery to me.
Love Roberts Mom and your Auntie

Please stay in touch. it is fun to hear from you

  5. Jessica — August 4, 2009 @ 8:13 pm

Hi Robert’s Mom - glad I thought to click on this one and see if there was a message for me! And there was! Makes me smile every time I see I have a message from you! Yeah this sinus infection really kicked my butt - However - That’s what antibiotics are for! :) Mom’s not been feeling great this past week or so - We go to treatment on thursday and I am somewhat worried that her anemia will be bad and she will have to have a blood transfusion before chemotherapy. She’s not a big fan of the blood transfusion idea but I will have to talk her into it. I am hoping it’s just a side effect of the chemo and nothing more …

I am sorry to hear your planters were ruined - that really stinks! Hopefully you will be able to find equally beautiful ones. I don’t have much of a green thumb myself - I have a couple of african violets I’ve managed to keep alive and I have some petunias out on my balcony. that’s about it. I am standing up in a wedding this weekend - It’s supposed to be 96 degrees! Hottest day in 3 years they say! Just figures - I have to wear taffeta!

I’ll update you on Thursday when I can. You and Herb are always in my thoughts and prayers - Talk soon - Love jessica

Hi Robert’s Mom - I hope things went well at the doctor. Been thinking about you and praying for you. Looking forward to your update. Today did not go so well for mom. No chemo treatment. Hemoglobin is low - we go for a blood transfusion tomorrow morning - and her sinus infection may have settled in her chest as pneumonia. We went from the onc to the hospital for a type cross test for the transfusion and a chest xray. We need to call during the transfusion tomorrow to get the results of the chest xray. If it’s pneumonia he is going to order anti-biotics for 7-10 days to wipe it out. I hope it all goes that easily. I’ll check in tomorrow - take care - love jessica

    Oh My Dear Jessica,
My heart breaks for you and your Mom. If prayers help you know I am going to double mine. These next few day are going to be a great trial for you. I hope some of your Family will be there for support. Didn’t you say your father was a help?
I almost hate to tell you my good new, but I know you don’t begrudge me this unbelievable gift of time.
My blood work was normal. My general health and the report from Bascom Palmer that my eyes showed no progression in the last 4 months led my Doctor to say I should go ahead with my plans to see our Granddaughter perform in the Shakespeare Festival in Austin Texas this September. When I return he will set up a Pet Scan, and we will take it from there. I am trying to put cancer out of my mind, and as my children say, think about living instead of dying.
If your Mom is confined to the hospital please let me know where. If she is at home please give me her address so I can send her a personal note to cheer her up a little. Even something to make her smile sometimes helps. Robert & I are sending healing vibes your way.
    Lovingly,
    Roberts Mom

hi ! I am still thinkin’….but wanted to say hello ooooooo anyway. I am looking for the lightbulb moment that reveals for me the mentor highlight of my life with Robert. Maybe the day I decided to use his name as my password. That way I thought he would stay with me everyday, even when I was not on the back of my horse - and with him in mind I would go about my computer life, much the same as how I ride a corner - carefully, thinking of the details of what put me there and how I get out of that corner. Robert was kind enough to give me the in and the out in the metaphor of life.I am grateful….but more later I got work to do…….Lingh’s video is getting lots of attention ! Have you seen it yet ? It’s beautiful ! You Tube ( Keyword - Amazing Lingh) xoxko

    Dear Karin
I just had the thrill of watching Lingh’s exquisite Kur. What fabulous music. It made me sit back and relax. Now I will never forget it.
Back then I was was so excited with Robert’s super ride on Kennedy I watched but couldn’t concentrate on other riders, however today seeing Lingh again brought back memories of most of the top rides. For me that show was one of the best EVER!
I am in the process of writing articles for Moms & Mentors starting from the beginning of Robert’s interest in Dressage. Sometimes last is best, and that is where you will come in with your experiences as a student, benefactor and good friend.
    Love,
    Roberts Mom
