Next Stops On My Road

Well, I’m back from Vancouver where I had a great time with the riders, coaches, trainers, and supporters. I have to thank Ali Buchanan for being a great host and organizer as well as all the volunteers who made the week one I will remember fondly.

My next stop is in Tallahasse for my symposium at Dover Farms. (That really is the name. The owner and organizer, Carol Dover, though no relation, has become a great friend to me and the Equestrian Aid Foundation) I hope you will all come out and take part in what I guarantee will be a very fun and educational weekend, not to mention the costume benefit for the EAF which will be Saturday evening.

After that, I leave November 11th for the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto. I absolutely can’t wait as I haven’t been to the Royal since I was a kid, but can still remember being mesmerized by everything from the dwarf rabbits to the teams of Clydesdales and Percherons. The CDIW will host 6 top international riders comprised of Cheryl Meisner, Jacquie Brooks, Denielle Gallagher, Tina Konyot, Heather Mason and Ashley Holzer. It’s going to be a very exciting show and I hope you will all come out to support it and show everyone why Dressage should be made more and more a strong part of the multi-discipline shows. Remember which sport keeps filling the stands more than any other at the
World Cups!

I will continue my “Talent Search” across Canada as well as going to all the winter/spring qualifiers on both coasts. If you have a great horse, feel you are a great rider with Olympic aspirations, or are interested in supporting the Canadian Team in any way, remember, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!

It will be great to see you at the Royal ! I will be bringing two horses, one belonging to a staff and one to a student ! It is always such a great show ! Dressage has been poorly represented at the Royal for awhile now, definately something to target for change. It is such a fantastic, energetic, and very public venue. Just the type of easy target to attract non-dressage spectators and sponsors ! I see the Royal as a venue that we can easily build up into something spectacular for Canadian Dressage. I can’t wait to hear your ideas !

so you say you are going to all the West Coast Q - if we are wanting to meet up with you and get some input, can we tag along even at a lower competition level with FEI in our sights?

    Hi Alison.

If you are a Canadian with a top young horse and are going to the S. Californian CDI’s, I am happy to watch you ride a test there and give my opinion as to your direction and progress.
I am really going to the qualifiers to try to build our team for the WEG’s, but am always interested in looking for great up and coming combinations for Canada.

    Cheers!

Ok, after seeing my post here, I realized how evil the smiley faces look…my bad - definately not my intention!! ;) <—– hopefully this one is a little less creepy.

  5. Marci Brown — October 30, 2009 @ 6:26 pm

Ok Stephanie…. clearly you forgot to take the medication that I set out for you this morning ! Talking about stalkers and herds of mutant chihuahuas dressed in matching pink outfits does not give the Royal a warm fuzzy feeling !!! ( I won’t even mention the pink doggy stroller and matching doggy shoulder bag) Just stick to your line classes, and cripple legged hunters, and quite bothering us dressage folks !!!

Sorry Robert, I will try to do better at controlling the Canadian Riff Raff !

  6. robert Dover — October 30, 2009 @ 6:37 pm

Are you kidding? Now I’m having fun reading everyone’s stuff. Finally!
Stephanie and Marci, keep it up!!! I love it!!!

Sadly… I can no longer read Stephanies post…. which makes my post just look, well, random….

Sorry Steph, I guess bad stuff happens to bad people. Better luck with posting next time.

  8. Stephanie — October 30, 2009 @ 7:22 pm

Cripple legged hunters eh? (Sidenote - Robert, you will be hearing ‘eh’ a lot in Canada :) And we use it at the end of our sentences rather than at the end, like you guysn hehe). Marci Marci Marci, the cripple legged hunter you are referring to happens to be the sire of a certain creature standing in your barn if I’m not mistaken. Ohh, didn’t think I’d catch that, did ya?

And Robert, Marci is jealous of my herd of Chihuahuas, and of my very obvious natural talent for dressage, because she works so hard to acheive what comes naturally to me. Hey, when you’re born with it, you’re born with it. My philosophy - if you’ve got it, flaunt it!

Ohhh Robert, do you know what you’ve got yourself into by allowing us to comment on your blogs? I’m moving onto your blog about Riders being Athletes next…I shouldn’t go there. Yes, we certainly are athletes, but I’m afraid the gym may cause the extra 15 lbs I carry around to dissapear…and THEN what would keep me in the saddle when my cripple-legged-hunter-turned-fabulous-dressage-horse leaps and bucks across the diagonal on my ‘loose rein’ during my Training level debut? …ughh, could be disastrous.

  9. Stephanie — October 30, 2009 @ 7:40 pm

And again, it looks as though I can’t spell. Just for the record, I was writing that on my cell, while driving (which is now illegal in Canada Robert, so I’d recommend not attempting it ;)) and THAT is why I look like I sounded dumber than a fifth grader :)

  10. Megan — October 30, 2009 @ 10:48 pm

Robert, Robert, Robert … do you know what you’ve done? You’ve encouraged them! Encouraged them to be themselves, right here on your blog. It’s like living with Ren and Stimpy, or Patrick and Spongebob.

Stephanie - were you driving while texting, or flirting with the cop to get out of the ticket again?

  11. Stephanie — October 31, 2009 @ 7:48 am

A little from column A, a little from column B. :D and Ren and Stimpy eh? I like it! I was thinkin’ more Cheech n Chong, but hey, whatever floats your boat ;)…come to think of it, I bet Marci doesn’t even know who Ren and Stimpy are.

  12. Marci Brown — October 31, 2009 @ 11:05 am

Of course I know who Ren and Stimpy are, I just googled them ! lol. But, alas, you were right… I had NO idea.

As for the texting while driving… xnay on the extingtay ! How on earth will Robert ever trust us to pick him up at the airport and deliver him to the Royal ! Sadly, speaking of texting, and my life line in general…. the rollerball fell out of my Blackberry last night. I was only GENTLY hitting it on the dashbord when it got stuck ! Now, how will I exist without it ? How will I call 911 when I get launched bronc’ing into the side wall ? What did riders do before we had cell phones ? I will have to teach my dog to run and get help… like Lassie….

For all you others reading this… is that new “UnStable” realality show about a barn just in Canada ? Or did you Americans see it ? Stephanie and I propose that our barn life is WAY more exciting, funny and death defying that their show. I propose we video of our comedy of errors in the barn as live dressage entertainment ! Maybe we would even allow Robert to make guest appearances ! If he behaves ! Now… Rhonda on the other hand…. I think she could come and be a regular !

  13. Marci Brown — October 31, 2009 @ 1:50 pm

Whats that you say Lassie ? Timmy is in the well ?

  14. Windeyer — October 31, 2009 @ 9:01 pm

Enjoy the Royal! It’s always lots of fun! Those 4 in hand Green Meadows carriages always make my heart go pitter patter!

    Stephanie,
Are you taking the studley man? He’s so incredibly nice!

I’m not a dressage rider, nor do I play one on TV, but I really wish I was. Super Pony and I might make it past Training level….eventually.

  15. Stephanie — November 1, 2009 @ 10:39 pm

Windeyer - yeppers, you betcha I’m takin’ the studly man…Romeo that is. Unfortunately not Sexy this year - next time though! Will you be at the Royal?

  16. robert Dover — November 2, 2009 @ 12:02 am

    Hi Gang.

I just have to say how much fun it has been for me to read all of your fabulous posts since Marci and Stephanie got into it!
    You guys rock!!!
Please, please, please keep ‘em comin!!!

    Cheers!

Sweet ! My blackberry is back ! Now I feel safe to ride again. Because , if in fact I had to send my dog to find help, the first person she encounters would most certainly be Steph. Before my loyal dog could relay the fate of her dear master, she would have to endure being dressed in co-ordinating outfits and have ner nails painted….

I am so thankful that my life no longer rests in the hands of Stephanie !!

  18. marci — November 3, 2009 @ 3:58 pm

Sweet ! My blackberry is fixed ! Now I once again feel safe riding. While I was quite confident in my brilliant dogs ability to run and get help , aka Lassie, the demise of the plan was that most certainly , the first person my dog would find would be Stephanie .
My dog would be dressed in co-ordinated outfits and have her nails painted long before Stephanie ever came to rescue me !

PS- Steph , how many dogs ARE we taking to the Royal ?

  19. Stephanie Cook — November 3, 2009 @ 4:58 pm

Ooooops the last post was from me, Steph…Im using Marci’s computer, and I didnt realize that her info came up automatically! myyyyy bad ;)

  20. Marci Brown — November 3, 2009 @ 8:30 pm

Why is it that I pay you ? ( and if you say for your charm and good looks I may actually vomit ) When clearly when I am not here you spend all your time on the computer ?

  21. Dog Accessories — April 14, 2011 @ 9:14 am
