Dearest Marcie,
Isn't this the best time of the year? The Kids are excited to know Santa is coming with toys for good girls and boys. When I was Little, 7 or 8, I believed in Santa until I saw Marshall Field's truck deliver the toys, and watched my brother hide them in the closet. When Al, Robert's older brother, was little we put out toys from Santa on Christmas Eve. The next dayI took him downtown for some returns. He wrapped himself around a lamp post and screamed, "You didn't get me anything for Christmas." I pried him off feeling like every one watching thought I was a monster mother. I wanted to scream, "There is no Santa." "It was Dad & Me who gave you those toys." I just kept smiling thinking maybe others had had the same experience, and understood
Memories, memories. This blog sure brings them back.

               Love Robert's Mom

I am thinking I had better get out and start my christmas shopping for all these kids today ! Tonight we get a tree though, and that is always fun.
Blessings,

Dear Bernie,
If you go to jd33024@bellsouth.net and give me your address I will send you a shirt. What size do you need?
The weather everywhere in America is very cold except Florida where we can't cool off. It has been too hot to sit outside. Usually by now every day is perfect. Such is life.
Again have a happy holiday.
                          Love, Jean

Hi Jean! I hope you are hanging in there! Did you see that my Hawkeyes are in fact going to play at the Orange Bowl in Miami? Sadly I won't be making the trip.... The friends that I usually travel with are both pregnant and can't fly ... So I will have to watch the football game from the warmth of my couch here in Chicago. Just wait until the Hawkeye fans invade Miami ... You'll think you were in Iowa (except for the weather)

Good luck at your appointment on Monday. We have one on Tuesday. Not sure if mom is going to have the first Alimta treatment that day or after the rest of the holidays. Doctor O'Reilly said he would make that call that day depending on how mom is feeling.

It's 3 degrees here in Chicago - I got jealous at your post above saying you could sit outside if you felt up to it! Definitely wish we could here! We've had quite a blast of scary weather here this week - Rain, sleet, slush, snow and now horribly cold temperatures with really high winds. It's supposed to warm up a bit this weekend, but I have a feeling it won't warm up enough for riding... :(

Talk soon - Love Always - Jessica

PS - I never got back here to answer your questions, but I was able to figure them all out except Sissy Spacek ... Can't wait to see the next set of questions!

Dear Marci,
Thanks for your kind thoughts, and wishes for my health. This isn't my first round of chemotherapy, and unfortunately probably won't be my last. I was spoiled and lulled into to believing I would have more then 6 years of no problems. So now I am making the big fight. Chemotherapy may be a cure, but it makes you sick while hopefully helping you. At least it is warm here and I can sit outside if I am up to it.
Monday, Robert is taking me to my eye Doctor at Bascom Palmer. It is the biggest, best eye clinic in the world. People come from all over. I am so lucky to have it as my lung cancer is also in my eyes. I am praying the chemotherapy is stopping it from advancing. I will keep you posted.
I think I wrote a long time ago about taking our 4 children to Florida when they were young. We didn't book rooms ahead for the night as we drove down. It got very late and when we finally found rooms Robert hollered, hurray, now it is too late to take a bath.
He fell in love with French Fried Frog legs and ate them where ever they were served. Al, who is 8 years older was in charge of him and took all the worry away from me.
You and your family will love Disney World. Don't wait too long. The years fly by.
Have a fun filled blessed Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

                      Love
                 Robert's Mom

Roberts Mom,
I have been worried about you, and keeping your in thoughts and prayers. Stay strong and healthy ! We need you around here ! I wish I could offer more help for you, but I know you are in good hands with your doctor and family.

We have been blessed with a warm fall so far, but are gearing up for our first big storm of the season tonight. I never feel like I am ready with the barn work for the winter.... it always seems to creep up on me. Someday, when the kids are grown, I think I need to venture to Florida for the winter. Maybe.... I should stop waiting and bring the kids to Disney World. I will wait until you are feeling up to it, then you can join us !

Enjoy the Holiday Season !
Much love

Ok ladies here are the answers.
You both got #1 Tracy Ullman.
# 2 Bonnie Raitt age 60. Her foundation fights for royalties and benefits for Pioneer R&B artists
#3 Allison Janney age 50. Emmy-wining West Wing star used to fib she was a national Geographic photographer.
#4 Lee Trevino age 70 Golf legend worked in Texas cotton fields starting at age 5.
#5 Sissy Spacek age 60 nearing her home state Texas born Spacek says,"my accent thickens, and I feel very safe.
#6 Jonny Whitaker age 50. Former FAMILY AFFAIRS TOT spent two years in PORTUGAL AS A Mormon Missionary.

So ladies all this information was stolen from AARP magazine. There were 8 people featured. I am not sure I am giving the answers to the right 6. Forgive me. I have been going through a rough patch. I am looking for something I know will have meaning to send to both of you as soon as I am feeling stronger. Meanwhile I want to thank you for playing. It was fun for me to read what you had to say.
Have a very Happy Christmas, and a joyous New Year.
                  Lovingly,
                  Roberts Mom
