Dear Ladies all,
Forgive me for writing to all of you at once, but I have been on vacation from my computer do to a bad reaction to chemotherapy.
Every bad thing I am feeling was do to chemo. The Doctor gave me a holiday to see if I could get my strength back. I have been dizzy and had to hold someones arm to get around. He advised a walker. I hate having to use it so I don't fall, however it is better then falling.
I will try to do better.
Yesterday I felt well enough to go out to the movies. What a treat. We choose "It's Confusing" It was the perfect choice. I don't know if you gals are old enough to appreciate the humor, but Mercedes and I enjoyed ever minute. We even went out for a little dinner. When her husband was alive, and Herb was well they watched football every Sunday with other buddies. If there was no football they played cards, so we always had the day off to enjoy.
I know I should not brag about Florida's weather, nevertheless it is gorgeous here. Knowing you all, I know you never let a little cold stop you.
Jess, I am so proud of all you do for your Mom, plus have time to do good for other, and have time for yourself. You never fail to amaze me.. May she continue to improve everyday.
E-mail me gals. I promise to do better.
                    Love,
                Robert's Mom

Hi Jean - Send some of that 60 degree weather our way! :) Actually, I can't complain - We've got a bit of a warm up coming today and for the next 5 or so days. It will be 40 degrees here today and that is actually wonderful news.

Mom is doing well this week so far. Probably because she gets steroids with her treatments - She is TONS better than she was a month ago. My sister has been bringing the girls over to see her at her house, and next weekend we celebrate my oldest niece, Rylee's 4th birthday.

This weekend I am traveling to Minneapolis to visit a friend and then Saturday we will drive to Wisconsin to do some volunteer work with my sorority. I will be training new ladies about our philanthropic efforts with Autism Speaks. I am excited to get out of Orland Park, even if it is just to Wisconsin and Minnesota. Hope you are doing well! Love Always - jessica

Dearest Jessica,
Please never have negative thoughts about your life. You are so giving to your Mom, and I suspect everyone who comes in contact with you. Besides I want you to know you are also propping me up when I too feel down.
Many times I feel sorry for myself, then I think of her, and remind myself we both have wonderful children who never let us down.
I just took a walk for the first time in days. It is about 60 in the sun.
Oh heavenly Florida.
                    Love,
                Robert's Mom

Dearest Beth,

It is a wonderful feeling knowing people out there care about you, and are sending good vibes and prayers your way.
I was very spoiled for almost 7 years beating the odds on surviving so long when given 3 to 6 months in 2003. What ever I have left I am eternally grateful so please keep your prayers for me, and Jessica's Mom going. She is a very brave lady and Jessica is a splendid daughter to take such loving care of her.
How about a picture of you? It is fun to see who you are writing too. Are you a competitive Dressage rider?
Robert loved to compete right from the beginning. That is why he waited such a long time to get the surgery he needed for years.
                         Love,
                     Robert's Mom

Dear Marci,
Thanks for all the good wishes, but even more I love your pictures. I sent them to Julian to put up for all to see our lovely Canadian nenighbor.
We had a few really cold days. Today it is positively perfect. I went to get a new drivers license mine was over the 6 years allowed. I always said one should have to drive, have their eyes checked and take the written test every few years when they are over 70. I made the appointment as there are always over 100 people waiting in line. When I got there I realized I had left my birth certificate home on the dresser. Now I have to wait another 3 weeks as I could never go until I get over the chemo. Drats! I am lucky I have a lovely caregiver for herb & Me.
Robert is quite pleased with how his Canadians are doing. He is working hard with them but the results are making it all worth while.
                   Love Robert's Mom

Prayers and positive thoughts on your continued road to recovery. The bitter cold should wipe out any and all little bugs out there that make you unwell. Happy 2010! You Rock!

Marci - I am in the suburbs of Chicago. It's been pretty darn chilly this winter! I am not usually a complainer, but we didn't get much of a summer and seemed to fall straight into a very frigid winter! Thanks for the prayers for my mom - She, too, has lung cancer that she has been battling for 17 months now. We are hoping Alimta holds it at bay for a long time! And I am much to young to be dealing with this - 34 and my sister is 31. Although my parents had buried 3 of 4 grandparents by the time they were my age, so I don't want history to repeat itself! Here's to warmer weather! Jessica

Jessica, where are you with those cold temperatures ? I am in Canada, and it is pretty chilly but I am enjoying it so far.... maybe not in a month or so !
I will keep you and your Mom in my thoughts and prayers as well. I walked with my own Mother, thru the cancer maze, last year. I felt much to young to deal with that difficult task. I am glad to hear things are going well for you, keep your spirits , and your Moms bright ! And enjoy all the extra "family" time this struggle is bringing you !

Hi Jean! So excited to see your post here as I realized I haven't "conversed" with you in a week or so! Hope the Hawkeyes invading your city wasn't too annoying! Watched the whole game wishing I was down in Miami - Even the 49 degrees it was at gametime is better than the -2 degrees it was here this morning. Mom is doing really well. She went back to her house this past Wednesday (which is why I haven't had time to write - been hanging out with her a lot at her place). We had to dig her car out of the snow because it hadn't moved in 3 weeks - That was not a lot of fun, however, it did count for my exercise for the day! The pneumonia has cleared, her counts are good and she's feeling well. The tough part? Chemo again on Tuesday. Hopefully with the time off and "tune-up" she got in the hospital it will be a little easier on her this time around.

Not too much else is new - It's been too darn cold up here to do much. Haven't been able to ride for a few weeks partially because of mom and also because it hasn't been above 20 degrees for a while! We are supposed to get a warm up into the 30's this week and I'll be looking forward to that!

Hope you are well! Love Always - Jessica
