Olympics vs Idol
For me there was no doubt that the Winter Olympics had it all over American Idol tonight. Yes, I thought both blonde girls with the guitars were good and memorable, but I still don’t think they achieved anything comparable to what our Olympic stars are performing like.
To get on that Olympic podium requires such unique talent, focus and confidence that there is absolutely no doubt that each contender is putting 100% of their heart into every muscle move and living in the moment which depends not only upon competing on the edge but loving it! In fact, it is only by being confident at that edge that one is able to find true brilliance. And that is what eluded me tonight with the ladies on American Idol. They are very gifted but took few real chances to ensure I and millions of other viewers would remember their names when the show was over.
Here’s to the Winter Games and also hoping the guys raise the bar on Idol tomorrow night.
Cheers!

I thought the blonde from Ohio was amazing.
The winter olympics are my favorite I think downhill skiing is crazy and boy talk about being in the moment I can’t think of any sport that requires that more.

ahem.
The athleticism required is so incredible and requires so much to be invisible and effortless…and it is all buried in the glitz of costumes and music and subjective judging…and yet, when something just stops your heart, it is so satisfying to have it be rewarded, whether it was the Korean skater last night, or the Chinese pair or Totilas and Edward.
As for AI, I think it will die a kind of death when Simon finally leaves, and be interesting to see if it can re-invent the excitement.
I thought this batch of girls was the most talented they have ever had–and yet all of them together, there didn’t seem to be one ounce of the ambition+determination that was Kelly Clarkson or David Cook.
I hope someone steps it up. SO far, I like that Siobhan girl. The glass blower, LOL.

Wow I just adore her! She is so darn beautiful on top of being a really good actress. I don’t think the show V is all that good, none the less I watch it anyway just so I can see her. And I don’t know if you’ve ever seen her do an interview but she is also rather funny and it all seems to come so natural for her. I personally never even heard of her before The V, now I’ll watch anything she’s on.
