Well Robert’s Mom it’s a lovely sunny afternoon here so I decided to drop work and have a look at your latest twister.
Got a couple of answers for you so far…..
Mighty Ducks was about hockey ( there’s a lawyer link there!)
I think the Harlem Globetrotters song is ‘Sweet Georgia Brown’?
The film Gary Cooper played Lou Gehrig in must have been Pride of the Yankees I’m guessing?
Will have to come back on the others. Let me know how I’m doing?
Hope you’re well and that the weather is nice where you are,
Love,
Bernie

Dear Bernie,
You are right on three so far. Keep up the good work.
So far we have been lucky and not had any serious Hurricanes. The worst months are September & October. We are not out of the woods until November ends. Fortunately we have shutters and plenty water. We also have a generator if we have no power.. I laugh because it is stored behind the furniture on our patio. Neither Herb nor I are strong enough to move it into the yard. The fumes from the gas would kill us if we turned it on near our patio window.
I don’t feel much different except that I get exhausted much faster and need more down time. Herb too is doing well for someone who was diagnosed almost 8 years ago.
Thanks for keeping in touch.
Love You,
Robert’s lucky mom Jean

Dear Jean,
I sympathise with the generator problem. Our place is surrounded by woods so come any bad weather, the first thing that goes down is the electricity. My husband thinks its a challenge and some kind of fun to have to get a generator going and hunker down. I’m afraid I disagree, although I am very grateful for his spirit on these occasions of course, as I’d never manage it on my own.
That’s good to hear you and Herb are doing well. I think you’re amazing to deal with what you deal with, I take my hat off to you.
Or I would have done if I’d had one on. I recall a few years ago in Washington at a lovely party the grand mere of the family (from Louisiana) remarking about one of the guests, who is a dear friend of mine as ‘oh yes, the lady who wore her hat into the evening’. Well as a Brit I though we had form off to a fine art but that took the biscuit!
Was Field of Dreams filmed in Iowa? This is a lot to ask of a Brit!
Hope you are enjoying a good weekend,
Much love,
Bernie

Dear Bernie,
Since you are my only player I will award you with a prize right now. This picture of RD is wonderful. It was the cover of Augusts Horse SPORT along with a very flattering article was another great picture. Maybe I can learn how to scan and send them to you. I know they would have to be sized right. Oh dear, please send me an address & I will mail them to you Bernie. Yesterday, thanks to Robert I finally was able to get the report of the Pet Scan I had last Thursday. It usually take 48 hours. Several calls to my Doctors office went unreturned. Yesterday Robert called me, and I said I guess I will have to wait until I see him next Thursday. He said give me the number. I said no need. He repeated, give me the number. 20 minutes later the Doctor’s associate called to say my test came back with no new progression. I called Robert and thanked him. They had told him it was because I had the test 10 days before my appointment, and that would never happen again. Amen to that,& God bless my son.
Bernie, you husband sounds like a wonderful man. I know he has a perfect wife. Your country home must be very charming. May life keep things sweet for you two.
Two more answers and you have it for sure. It looks like I will have to steal another from the restaurant that provides it’s guests with the game to keep them happy while waiting. Oh, Oh, I hope I don’t get arrested!
Love,
Robert’s Mom, Jean

Bernie, I read & reread my e-mail to you, but didn’t see the mistakes until I submitted the e-mail, and then it was too late. I know you forgive me and I thank you for that.
More Love, Jean

Dear Robert’s Mom Jean,
You are such a star! I feel honour bound to come up with the remaining answers. Better not until I finish writing this big paper though, but I shall hold this as an incentive to collect!
I am so glad Robert was able to hasten the results of your scan. He may not be the lawyer in your family but he is very, very persuasive.
Lots of love,
Bernie x

Dearest Bernie,
I will be happy to wait. Good luck with your paper.
I had the best news this week. Besides no new progression of my cancer the Dr. saw how weak I am and canceled my chemo for the week and will only give me half for the next two times. I am one lucky lady.
Love Robert’s Mom
Jean

SO SO happy for you Jean. That’s really all I dropped by to say! I hope the “easier” dose of chemo will keep any side effects at bay.
Always thinking of you … Love Jessica

Thanks Jessica,
Your caring means so much to me.
I am praying for you to get a great job.

Dear Jessica,
I hope you have been lucky in finding a wonderful new job. It helps greatly to enjoy your work so it doesn’t become a drudge.
I was reading this months AARP magazine. In it they had an article about ways to find a perfect job. It suggests you Network at your faith based clubs. The lovely lady that is our caregiver came to us through the recommendation of a neighbor she goes to church with.
Did you watch any of the WEG? it certainly was exciting. Robert came to see us yesterday and of course we enjoyed his visit. It wouldn’t be complete without his darling dog Simon. He fell asleep on my bed while I scratched his tummy. What a love.
I just received the most exciting news. Stacy & John Scott her sweetheart of 3 years are engaged. He took her to a lovely restaurant and got down on one knee to propose. Can you believe that in this day and age. I hope their life together is as perfect as that moment.
Love, Robert’s Mom Jean
